British Liberal Democrat MP Cameron Thomas has been accused of sending obscene messages to a Ukrainian interpreter during his visit to Kyiv in February.
This was reported by The Times with reference to the Mail on Sunday, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the publication, during the trip, dedicated to the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Thomas sent the woman several messages on WhatsApp with intimate overtones, including: “I want you” and “I would like to stay with you for a few days.” A translator showed the messages to the other members of the trip, noting that they were unacceptable.
The deputy’s press service said that it was a personal correspondence between two people who are still in touch.
cameron Thomas, 42, is a former Royal Air Force officer who served in Iraq, the UAE and the Falkland Islands. After his military service, he entered politics and was elected to Parliament in 2024.
This is not the first harassment scandal involving British politicians. In December 2024, the former leader of the Edinburgh City Council, Cammy Day, was accused of a similar case.
