Trump announces ‘big statement’ on Russia as concern grows in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will make a “big announcement” regarding Russia on July 14. This promise has caused intense anticipation not only in the United States but also in Kyiv, as Ukraine fears that it could mean a potential change in support for the war against the Kremlin.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Bild.

“We have tried all possible options to convince Trump: Putin does not want peace. He will continue to bomb, and our talks with the Russians have clearly confirmed this,” a source in the Ukrainian government was quoted as saying.

The day before, Trump told NBC that NATO would receive American weapons only after payment, and only then would it be able to distribute them independently. This provision may include the Patriot air defense systems that Ukraine critically needs.

But the main question of critical importance for Ukraine and Europe is whether Trump will agree to joint sanctions against Russia, which he has been resisting for months

The mood of his electorate is playing against such a step: many do not want to deal with the possible economic consequences for the United States itself, including inflation. At the same time, Trump has not ruled out sanctions lately, but has so far avoided any specifics.

This issue has become even more acute amid growing pressure from the US Senate. Putin’s inaction has only strengthened the position of those who favor tougher measures.

Against this backdrop, Moscow, according to sources, is preparing a new large-scale attack – the Kremlin is considering an offensive scenario in the second half of the summer.
