US President Donald Trump has announced a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. They plan to discuss tariffs between the two countries.

He said this in an interview with Fox Business Network, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Donald Trump said that his proposed 100% duty on Chinese goods is not a long-term measure. At the same time, he accused China of “robbing” the United States for years, particularly during the presidency of Barack Obama.

“They (the Chinese – ed.) took our money, but now everything has changed. I mean, we are doing well with China. I don’t know what will happen next. I can’t tell you, but we’re going to meet in South Korea with President Xi and other people,” Trump said.

China has not yet commented on the information about the meeting.

Prospects for negotiations and possible consequences

The talks are expected to affect global supply chains, global prices for imported goods, and currency markets. Experts emphasize the importance of mutual steps and compromises on both sides. The outcome of the meeting will either benefit or create new obstacles for the global economy, depending on whether common ground on tariffs and mutual concessions can be found.

Earlier, the media reported that US President Donald Trump is working on creating a “victory fund” for Ukraine, which will be financed by new duties imposed on China.

According to the plan, the money from this fund will be used to purchase weapons for the Ukrainian army, including long-range Tomahawk missiles, if European allies support the initiative.

The plan envisages a 500% rate on Chinese goods, and the funds will be used to strengthen Kyiv’s military capabilities.
