US President Donald Trump has announced plans to relocate homeless people from Washington to remote areas and intensify the fight against crime.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Reuters.
According to him, the goal of the plan is to make the American capital “safer and more beautiful than ever before.”
“The homeless must leave immediately. We will provide you with places to stay, but far from the capital,” he wrote on his social media site Truth Social.
Trump also addressed those who commit crimes.
“Criminals, you don’t have to leave – we’ll put you in jail, where you belong,” the US president emphasized.
The White House refused to explain to journalists on what legal grounds Trump plans to evict people from the capital.
On Monday, he is scheduled to hold a press conference on fighting crime in Washington, but it is not yet known whether he will provide more details about his plan.
As a reminder, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Christie Noem was the victim of a theft in a restaurant in downtown Washington, DC.
