U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his readiness to reschedule a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, provided that he is confident of a potential deal.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the statement of the head of the White House.
“We need to know that we are going to make a deal (to end the war in Ukraine – ed.). I’m not going to waste my time,” the US president said when asked what Moscow should do to meet with him.
At the same time, Trump expressed disappointment with the progress of the peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine.
On Wednesday, October 22, Trump announced the cancellation of his meeting with Putin in Budapest, which was announced last week. The American president expressed the opinion that this meeting would not have achieved what was needed. At the same time, Trump did not rule out a meeting with Putin in the future.
The head of the White House also said that the process of resolving the war in Ukraine is going “pretty well” and demanded that Russia agree to a ceasefire along the front line, fixing its current positions.
After that, the United States announced the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions. They were the first in the second period of Trump’s presidency.
