Trump boasts of zero aid to Ukraine: “I give them nothing”
9 December 08:46
US President Donald Trump has again made a number of controversial statements regarding support for Ukraine and Washington’s role in the Russian-Ukrainian war. During a roundtable discussion with representatives of American agribusiness, he claimed that under his presidency, the United States “does not spend” money on helping Ukraine, but rather “earns” money by selling arms to NATO allies.
Trump also repeated a number of unconfirmed figures on casualties at the front and spoke harshly of European partners on his Truth Social social media account.
Trump’s main statements: what he said about Ukraine and US support
During a meeting with the agricultural business, Trump said:
- “Biden gave the Ukrainians $350 billion, and I give them nothing.”
- “In the beginning, I gave them Javelins, Obama only gave them blankets.”
- The United States “does not spend money, we spend time on humanitarian purposes.”
- NATO allegedly buys American weapons “at full price” and gives them to Ukraine.
At the same time, Trump added that many people are dying, and he wants “it to stop.” However, he did not announce a specific plan to end the war.
Manipulative figures on Ukraine’s losses
The American president again cited unconfirmed data, saying that “27,000 soldiers were killed last month” – “mostly Ukrainian and Russian soldiers.”
Official data on the losses of both sides are hidden, and the figures Trump cited do not correspond to any confirmed sources.
“We don’t spend money” – what did Trump mean?
The president said that the United States sells weapons to NATO countries “at full price,” and they transfer them to Ukraine on their own. According to his logic:
- the American defense industry makes money;
- nATO countries cover part of the costs;
- The United States allegedly “invests nothing”.
At the same time, US state aid to Ukraine is officially budgetary spending, so Trump’s claim contradicts reality.
Dispute with Europe: Trump attacks allies again
On his Truth Social platform, he wrote:
“The impotent Europeans can only get angrier as Trump rightly sidesteps them from the Ukraine deal.”
Such words
- contradict diplomatic practice,
- demonstrate pressure on partners,
- repeat Trump’s usual rhetoric about “unfair NATO funding.”
Scandal with a journalist: another conflict
During a media interview, Trump reacted sharply to a question from a reporter and said:
“You are the most disgusting reporter in this whole place. You are a disgusting, horrible reporter.”
This is not the first time such public attacks have occurred in the American president’s speeches and each time they cause a media stir.
