Trump considers military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities – CNN

U.S. President Donald Trump is increasingly inclined to use U.S. military forces to strike Iranian nuclear facilities. CNN reported this with reference to two US officials familiar with the discussions in the administration, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, this marks a major shift in Trump’s approach, although he has not yet ruled out a diplomatic solution, provided that Iran makes significant concessions.

Discussions in Washington on a diplomatic way out of the escalation continued over the weekend and on Monday. But, as CNN notes, Trump is already openly demonstrating a loss of interest in the negotiations.

“I’m not really in the mood to negotiate with Iran,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One after the G7 summit in Canada.

He added that his goal is “the end, the real end, not a truce” or a partial deal.

This turn in Trump’s rhetoric and intentions is in stark contrast to his own statements a decade ago. In 2013, he tweeted, “I think Obama will attack Iran to save face.” Now, in 2025, Trump himself is threatening to strike Iran, calling for Tehran’s complete surrender, and even declaring his intention to “kill the supreme leader.”

According to Axios, Trump has already held a key meeting in the White House Situation Room with his advisers, and the topics of discussion included a strike on Iran amid the war with Israel. Officials say the current president is “seriously considering” a direct military intervention scenario.

Trump and a potential strike on Iran

Preparedness for a military strike: President Trump is now seriously considering a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities – in particular, the underground enrichment plant at Fordow. He has convened a meeting in the Situation Room in the White House to make this decision.

Presidential rhetoric: Trump said that he does not want “just a truce” but a real end to the conflict. In his opinion, Iran must surrender “without conditions.”

Increased military presence: The United States has deployed additional refueling aircraft and an aircraft carrier group to the region. The Pentagon calls it “defensive measures”.

Israeli attack as a catalyst
Attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities: Israel conducted a series of strikes on nuclear and military facilities in Iran, killing senior military and nuclear scientists.

The United States did not participate in the operation: Officially, the United States did not participate, although it was informed by Israel beforehand. Analysts believe that there was at least intelligence coordination.

Diplomatic and Congressional Movements
Meetings and Negotiations: Trump has said he is considering meeting with Iranian officials and engaging in dialogue with them – possibly through Omani mediation .

Congress seeks control: Initiatives have emerged in the United States to limit presidential authority to go to war with Iran without congressional approval.

Current Tensions
Israel-Iran: Mutual attacks continue – Israel attacks targets in Iran, Iran responds with drone and missile strikes on Israel .

Civilian casualties: Over 200 dead on both sides – both military and civilian .

International reaction: G7 countries and the UN call for de-escalation. However, some European governments do not rule out direct US involvement if necessary.

President Trump: Considering a military strike against Iran and increasing pressure, but ready for dialogue – if Iran shows readiness.

Israel has already attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities, possibly with the tacit consent of the United States.

The United States is increasing its military presence in the region, but the decision to strike is not yet final.
