Trump tells what concessions Russia agreed to during the talks

US President Donald Trump commented on the situation with the negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war for the press on Air Force One, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Trump also claims that the US negotiating team is “making progress with Ukraine and Russia,” and Moscow has allegedly “agreed to some concessions.”

“Their big concession is to stop fighting and not grab more land,” he said.

Trump announced that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Moscow next week.

He also said that security guarantees would be developed jointly with Europe.

Commenting on the issue of the territories that Ukraine was offered to “give” to Russia, the American president said that everything is now moving in one direction and the Russians “may get” this territory in the next few months.

“So either you want to fight and lose another 50-60,000 people, or you want to do something now,” he said.

He added that there is currently no deadline for a deal.

“You know when the deadline for me will come? When this is all over,” the White House chief said.

It should be noted that Russia has been trying to seize Donetsk and Luhansk regions since 2014, and it has not been able to fully occupy them, despite the forces it has put into it.

Media reports indicate that Trump is not interested in the content of the provisions of a potential peace agreement: he is ready to approve any document, as long as Russia and Ukraine sign it as soon as possible.

About the peace plan and negotiations

on November 23, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, Ukrainian and American delegations began negotiations on 28 points of the so-called peace plan to end the war.

Following the talks, the parties prepared an updated and revised framework document.

The previous 28-point peace plan was revised: some provisions were removed, others were changed. Now the plan has 19 points, and the final decision on certain controversial issues will remain with the presidents.
