US President Donald Trump said he is “very disappointed” with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who has not yet agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but has only intensified attacks on Ukraine. He said this in an interview with CNN, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“I am very disappointed in him. He and I have always had a great relationship. I am very disappointed. Thousands of people are dying. It’s not Americans who are dying, it’s Russians and Ukrainians. And there are thousands of them. And this is a war that makes no sense,” Trump said.

He also reiterated that this war would never have started if he had been president of the United States.

“And we will do something to help people live. This is not a Ukraine issue. It’s about helping people live. Every week 7000 people die, mostly soldiers. If I can help prevent this, I believe I have a duty to do so,” the US president said.

Trump’s statements came after Russia has been massively shelling Ukraine with drones and missiles for several days in a row.

Earlier, Trump said that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has “gone absolutely insane.” He added that if he decides to take over the entirety of Ukraine, Russia will face collapse.
