Trump says he doesn’t know if he can end the war in Ukraine

Donald Trump has admitted that he is unsure of his ability to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, effectively backing away from a promise he repeatedly made during the election campaign to end the conflict on his first day back in the White House.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to POLITICO.
“I don’t know. I can’t tell you if it’s going to happen,” Trump told reporters aboard the presidential Air Force One, answering a direct question about the prospects for ending the war.
Although he emphasized that peace remains his priority, he did not sound as confident as he had previously.
Throughout the campaign, Trump repeatedly claimed that he could instantly stop the war. However, in an interview with TIME, he later called his promise an “exaggeration.”
“The situation in Ukraine is a Biden deal. It’s not a Trump deal. I am trying to complete it,” he said. At the same time, Trump seeks to act as a mediator between Kyiv and Moscow.
He recently held phone conversations with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, the conversation with Putin was disappointing: “He wants to go all the way, just keep killing people.”
In turn, the conversation with the Ukrainian leader was “very good and strategic.” Zelenskyy himself characterized it as “fruitful,” noting the discussion of air defense systems, joint arms production, and investments.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has suspended some arms shipments to Ukraine due to a shortage of American ammunition. Commenting on this, Trump said: “We are providing weapons… But we have already given so many weapons.”
