Trump says the US will run Venezuela until the transfer of power

US President Donald Trump has said that America will lead Venezuela, where a military operation took place today. This will continue until the transfer of power.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Trump’s statement during a press conference, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the US president, today’s operation is an attack that people have not seen since World War II, an attack “on a heavily fortified military fort in the center of Caracas, in order to bring the criminal Maduro to justice.”

“We will govern the country (Venezuela) until we can make a safe, proper and legal transfer of power. We don’t want to be involved in having someone else intervene in the situation. We will run the country,” Trump said.

He added that the United States is ready to conduct a second, much larger wave of attacks “if necessary.”

“We were preparing for the second wave, we thought it would be necessary, but probably not, because the first wave of attack was very successful,” he said.

Trump said that “Maduro will face the full force of American justice on American soil.” It is worth noting that the United States has already indicted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, in the Southern District of New York.

In addition, during a press conference today, Trump accused Venezuela of having previously “stolen” American oil production infrastructure.

“This operation should be a warning to anyone who threatens American interests and American lives,” he said, hinting that all political and military figures in Venezuela could also be held accountable.

The US operation against Venezuela

Today, the United States launched a series of strikes on the Venezuelan capital of Caracas. The buildings of the Venezuelan parliament and the house of the country’s Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez were hit.

In addition, there were reports of attacks on a military complex, a naval base, an airfield, and more. In total, at least ten facilities in the capital could have been hit.

Soon after, US President Donald Trump confirmed the large-scale operation against Venezuela on his social media, declaring it successful. In his post, he said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been detained and taken out of the country.
