Trump Makes a Disappointing Forecast for the Settlement of the War in Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that it will take a long time to resolve Russia’s war against Ukraine. At the same time, he is confident that the “conflict” could have been prevented. The US President said this in an interview with the YouTube channel Pod Force One with Miranda Devine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Commenting on his efforts to broker a truce between Ukraine and Russia, Trump said that he had “great conversations” with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, after which he believed that Russia’s war against Ukraine had been resolved. But after those calls, “a lot of bad things happened.”
According to the American leader, Ukraine is “like the apple of the Russian dictator’s eye.” And now Putin is having a hard time because he was counting on a three-day war, but it has been going on for more than three years.
“Ukraine and Russia are losing 5,000 to 6,000 soldiers every week who have parents, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends and other loved ones… I don’t like to think about it, but it could have been easily resolved – but now it’s going to take a lot more time,” Trump added.
The American leader also reminded that Europe is currently covering all the costs of American weapons for Ukraine. In his opinion, it was a “good deal” with NATO.
As a reminder, during the election campaign, US President Donald Trump assured that if he became president, he would be able to end Russia’s war against Ukraine in 24 hours. Already in March, Trump said that he was being “a little sarcastic” when he made this promise.
