Apple prices to soar: what’s behind the new price hike

The cost of apples and pears of the new harvest in Ukraine will increase by at least 10-15% compared to last year.
This was reported by Agrotimes with reference to the director of Vinnytsiaadvynprom Corporation Serhiy Boychuk, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to him, gardeners were left alone with the problems caused by spring frosts. Appeals to insurance companies have not yielded any results, as they are not ready to cover losses.
“We understand that the state is facing many pressing challenges, and priorities are often focused on the most urgent needs. However, we can’t leave horticulture alone with its problems. We have also approached insurance companies, but unfortunately, they are not ready to meet us halfway in this matter. However, these problems do exist, and we cannot remain silent about them,” said Boychuk.
Boychuk emphasizes that systemic support from the state, science, and financial institutions is needed to preserve the horticulture industry. This will create effective mechanisms for the protection and development of Ukrainian horticulture.
