Coffee prices hit a new all-time high

Global coffee prices are up 20% year-on-year, and in August were at their highest level since August 2024. Experts warn that prices may remain high until the end of 2025.

This is reported by Forbes with reference to analysts, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Among the reasons cited by experts are drought in Brazil, reduced harvests in Colombia, and higher import tariffs in the United States.

“This situation has already affected the cost of drinks in cafes and retail stores around the world,” the journalists note.

According to the International Coffee Organization, the average price of arabica in September reached $2.45 per pound, and in some regions of Latin America it rose even higher due to logistics problems and increased fertilizer costs.

According to the publication, 70-80% of the current Arabica harvest in Brazil has already been sold, and new deals are slow to come through. Brazil is home to almost half of the world’s Arabica crop, a high-quality variety that is mostly used for roasting and making ground blends.

Robusta coffee, which is commonly used to make instant coffee, rose by 0.9% to reach $5,609 per metric ton.
