Moldova’s CEC has refused to register the pro-Russian Peremoha bloc of businessman Ilon Shor, who fled the country, to participate in the September 28 parliamentary elections, Moldovan and international media reported on Saturday, July 19.

According to the Moldovan TV channel TV8, “the political force has gross violations of the law related to financing and declaration of expenses. In particular, the leaders and members of the bloc did not submit to the CEC reports on expenses during their trips to Moscow, as required by law, according to the publication, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

In addition, a formal violation was recorded: the name and logo of the Peremoha bloc coincides with the name and logo of the party of the same name registered in the Register of Parties.

It is reported that Oleksiy Lungu, leader of the Chance party, also created with the participation of pro-Russian businessman Shor, tried to protest against the decision to deny the Peremoha bloc registration for the parliamentary elections and was removed from the hall by police at the request of the CEC.

According to Shor himself, the Peremoha bloc intends to appeal the denial of registration. The bloc was created at a congress in Moscow on July 6. As the fast-talking Moldovan oligarch said at the time, the first name on his list should be the bashkan (head) of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, who is under house arrest. She faces up to 9 years in prison for receiving 2 million euros for illegal financing of the Shor party. Hutsul’s sentence is to be announced on August 5.

The Peremoha bloc filed documents with the Moldovan CEC on July 14, and the next day it was placed under EU sanctions. It consists of four parties: “Renaissance, Chance, Power of Alternative and Salvation of Moldova, and Victory. The key points of its program are “criticism of Moldova’s “pro-Western” course, promotion of the ideas of Eurasian integration and accession to the EAEU, and the proclamation of an alliance with Russia,” the authors note.
