Tuapse under attack by drones: refinery and port pier caught fire

One of the berths in the Black Sea port of Tuapse and equipment at a refinery were damaged by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack on December 31, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported, [Komersant ] citing Russian propaganda media.

“The fire was quickly extinguished at one of the berths. The fire was also extinguished on the territory of the refinery – on an area of 300 square meters,” the operational headquarters said in a statement.

The port of Tuapse transships mainly oil products from the Tuapse refinery, as well as fuel from the Samara group of Rosneft refineries for export.

The export-oriented Tuapse refinery, which has a single primary refining unit AVT-12 with a capacity of 12 million tons per year, produces various types of fuel oil. Earlier, on November 2, as a result of the fall of the UAV wreckage, the infrastructure and buildings of the “oil terminal” in the port of Tuapse, as well as two foreign civilian vessels, were damaged, and the Tuapse refinery was forced to suspend oil refining. After two weeks of downtime, the port of Tuapse resumed export transshipment of oil products and the Tuapse refinery resumed oil refining.

Attacks on facilities in Tuapse

As for Tuapse, it was reported that on November 10, maritime drones attacked the local port. As a result, one of the berths was damaged.

It is noted that at night, local residents reported explosions in the city, and the drone threat regime lasted for almost 8 hours.
