Wang Ning, the chairman of the Chinese company Pop Mart, which produces Labubu dolls, increased his fortune by $18.8 billion in the first eight months of this year. This impressive growth allowed him to enter the list of the world’s richest people.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which is calculated on the basis of the value of company shares, Wang Ning’s wealth more than tripled in 2025. In terms of capital growth, he lagged behind only seven names in the global ranking.
Pop Mart, a company specializing in the production of collectible toys, has gained immense popularity thanks to its “blind box” model. Customers don’t know what kind of figure they are getting, which turns shopping into an exciting game and encourages them to build complete collections. This success has brought the company to the world stage and its founder to the list of global riches.
The story of Labubu began in 2015 when Kasing Lung created a series of characters called Monsters inspired by Scandinavian mythology. In 2019, he signed a contract with the Chinese toy giant Pop Mart, which began producing these figures. Thanks to their unique aesthetic and blind box model, the toys instantly became a global hit, especially among Generation Z.
Wang Ning is currently ranked 86th in the list of the world’s richest businessmen. Wang Ning earned $18.8 billion in the first 8 months of this year, overtaking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, multibillionaire Warren Buffett, and Dell CEO Michael Dell.
