“Zelensky’s Thousand”: President responds to petition

9 January 12:20

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to a petition demanding a review of the program of payments of one thousand hryvnias to Ukrainians, popularly called the “thousand from Zelenskyy.” The response was published in the petitions section on the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Zelensky thanked the author of the petition and all those who signed it for taking care of issues that are extremely important to society.

The President emphasized that the launch of a program to pay one-time state aid to citizens should help support Ukrainian families in the winter and revive demand for Ukrainian goods and services.

“I have proposed to Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal to ensure additional analysis of the problematic issues mentioned in the petition, taking into account the results of the current monitoring of the program’s implementation in practice, and to inform the author of the petition about the results,” Zelensky said.

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak has already responded to the President’s response.

“The answer is the same as the government’s economic ideas. I’ll save some time for the government officials and just remind you that even according to their official calculations, the effect on the economy from the program is rapidly approaching zero. And given that 15 billion hryvnias will be spent on this celebration of populism, this is the most inefficient use of money even compared to other programs. And given that this is the army’s money, it’s the bottom,” the MP emphasized.

In his opinion, the response to the petition forgot to mention that the essence of the program is to save the government’s rating. But, as Zheleznyak emphasized, according to the latest sociological data, this did not happen.

It should be noted that every Ukrainian will be able to receive a thousand hryvnias, as announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. We are talking about adults and children. However, according to media reports, Ukrainians living abroad, even if they have refugee status, will not be able to receive the payment. This means that they will have to undergo verification of their place of residence before receiving the payment.

However, the thousand hryvnias from Zelensky will not be available only through Diia.
