The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a bill on state final certification and the 2025 admission campaign, according to which applicants will take the National Multiple Subject Test (NMT) in four subjects. This was announced by Oleksiy Honcharenko, MP from the European Solidarity party, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The initiative is aimed at adapting the educational process and simplifying the conditions for admission in the face of modern challenges, including those related to the war.
The bill was voted in favor by 258 MPs.
“Students will take the NMT in 4 subjects: 3 compulsory and one optional. There are 258 votes in favor,” the MP wrote.
According to him, the testing will include the following compulsory subjects: Ukrainian language, mathematics, and history of Ukraine. Graduates will be offered a fourth subject of their choice: a foreign language, biology, geography, physics, chemistry or Ukrainian literature.
At the same time, students in grades 4, 9, and 11 will be exempt from the State Final Exam.
This means that the SFA will not be a prerequisite for graduation in these grades, and only those graduates who plan to enter higher education institutions will take the NMT.
It should be noted that in mid-October, a member of the Rada’s Education Committee, Yulia Hryshyna, proposed reducing the number of subjects on the NMT to three. According to her, Ukrainian schoolchildren are getting worse at the entrance exam every year due to educational losses. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Science was considering increasing the number of subjects on the NMT to five.
