The Chinese online store Shein has banned the sale of sex dolls and temporarily suspended the placement of adult products after a scandal in France over dolls that “look like children.” This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to AFP.

The French Directorate General of Consumer Affairs (DGCCRF) announced that it had complained to the authorities about the sale of “sex dolls that look like children” in an online store. The country’s Economy Minister Roland Lescure said that the authorities would block Shein if it displayed products “related to child pornography.”

Lescure added that French law enforcement would investigate the situation.

“Shein said it has removed all advertising and images related to sex dolls and temporarily removed the adult category from its product range,” the article says.

A Shein spokesperson said that the ban was introduced globally, not just in France.

In August of this year, the Italian antitrust regulator (AGCM) fined the Chinese e-commerce platform Shein €1 million, deciding that the company had disseminated false information to customers about the environmental sustainability of its operations.
