Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck drilling rigs in the Caspian Sea.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The agency specified that three facilities belonging to the Lukoil corporation were hit in the attack: the Vladimir Filanovsky, Yuri Korchagin, and Valery Graifer drilling rigs.

“The hits have been confirmed. The extent of the damage is being assessed,” the General Staff said, stressing that the attacked facilities are used to support the Russian army.

The Ukrainian command also reported the destruction of a Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system launcher in the vicinity of the village of Baranychevo in the occupied Luhansk region. The agency recalled that this medium-range air defense system is designed to combat aerodynamic targets. In addition, the General Staff reported that a logistics depot of the 49th Army of the Russian Armed Forces in the area of the village of Novotroitsk in the Kherson region had been destroyed.

The Ukrainian side noted that these strikes are aimed at reducing the logistical and combat capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces and are part of a systematic effort to weaken the military and economic potential of Russian forces involved in armed aggression against Ukraine.

Earlier, on December 14, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Graifer field in the Caspian Sea, which led to the suspension of production at 14 wells. On December 11 and 12, platforms at the Filanovsky and Korchagin fields were hit, and on December 15, there was a repeat attack on the Korchagin field. According to Reuters, this resulted in damage to critical equipment and a halt in production. All of these facilities are owned by Lukoil.
