Not everyone will receive their pension in April. Who will not receive their pension
1 April 15:22
Pensioners residing in temporarily occupied territories or who have left those territories for areas controlled by Ukraine or abroad were required to submit a notification to the Pension Fund by April 1 stating that they had not received payments from the Russian Federation; otherwise, their pension or insurance payments would be suspended in April. This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The law stipulates that pensioners residing in territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation or who left for territory controlled by Ukraine during the temporary occupation will receive their pensions provided they do not receive pension payments from Russian pension authorities,” the statement reads.
This applies primarily to those who:
- reside abroad or in temporarily occupied territories;
- have left such territories;
- have already completed the identification procedure in 2025 but have not notified the Pension Fund of the absence of payments from Russia.
Currently, pensions continue to be paid to these categories of citizens, but this is a temporary measure that will remain in effect only until the specified date.
How to notify the Pension Fund
There are several ways to submit the relevant information:
- via the Pension Fund’s web portal — in your personal account, select the “Remote Notification” section and confirm that you are not receiving a pension from other countries;
- during video identification—during a conversation with a specialist, you must confirm that you are not receiving payments from Russian authorities;
- at a service center — submit an application in person, providing the necessary information.
In other words, pensioners who underwent in-person identification in 2025–2026 and were required to report that they were not receiving payments from the Russian Federation, but had not yet done so as of February 1, 2026, were required to submit the relevant notification by April 1 to continue receiving their pension payments.
As explained by the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU), if a notification regarding the non-receipt of payments from the Russian Federation has not been submitted and pension payments are suspended, they can be reinstated based on the pensioner’s application for the resumption of pension payments, which must include information regarding the non-receipt of payments from the Russian Federation.
How to resume pension payments
The procedure for resuming payments depends on the situation. People residing in temporarily occupied territories can submit an application online via the Pension Fund’s electronic services and undergo remote identification—using “Diya.Signature” or video call. Those who have moved to territory controlled by Ukraine must visit a service center in person and confirm that they have not received payments from Russia.
Citizens residing abroad must mail a package of documents confirming their status, place of residence, proof of life, and a copy of their Ukrainian passport. All documents must be translated into Ukrainian and properly certified.
As a reminder:
The Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity previously stated that such a notification had to be submitted by December 31, 2025. However, some people were unable to do so on time. Therefore, in February 2026, the government extended the deadline for submitting the notification to April 1.
