600 buildings in Kyiv without any utilities

24 January 16:26

In the capital, utility services and energy companies are working to restore electricity, heat, and water supplies after a massive nighttime attack by Russia on critical infrastructure.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The most difficult situation is currently in Troieshchyna. About 600 residential buildings in the area remain without electricity, heat, and water.

Additional heating points are being set up in the districts

Due to the difficult situation in the Desnianskyi district, additional warming centers are being set up in addition to the 145 already in place. These are support centers where residents can stay not only during the day but also at night.

Schools are being converted into support points

Support centers are being set up, in particular, in schools No. 263, No. 264, No. 306, No. 275, and No. 293.

Mobile boiler rooms are being installed there, and sleeping facilities, such as sleeping mats and food, are being provided. The mobile boiler rooms have already been sent for immediate connection.

The State Emergency Service will set up additional tents

In addition, the State Emergency Service will deploy additional tents as warming stations to help residents of the affected areas.

City authorities are working to overcome the crisis

“City services are doing everything possible to overcome the crisis caused by enemy attacks, which are trying to leave the capital without light, heat, and water,” Klitschko said.

The work of rescuers and city services

At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and city services are working in the capital at the sites of Russian strikes. About 150 rescue climbers from different regions of Ukraine, including Sumy, Lviv, Odesa, Cherkasy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil, are involved in the emergency repair work. The work is being carried out in stages in compliance with all safety rules.

Resilience and warming centers

At the same time, support for the population has been organized. More than 1,300 resilience centers have been set up in Kyiv, including at business premises. In addition, 91 State Emergency Service warming centers are operating in 68 locations, mainly in the courtyards of multi-story buildings.

Provision of food

Together with partners, food has been provided to people, with over 6,000 meals already distributed. The State Emergency Service’s food services support both city residents and rescue teams.

In the absence of heat, electricity, or water supply, citizens are encouraged to call 112. Operators will provide information about the nearest points of resilience, heating, or shelter. In the absence of mobile communication, you can contact us via WI-FI and the 112 Ukraine app.

Russia’s night attack on Ukraine on January 24

On the night of January 24, Russian troops carried out another combined attack on Ukraine, using more than 375 strike drones and 21 missiles of various types. Air defense forces destroyed most of the air targets, but it was not possible to completely avoid hits.

Kyiv suffered the most damage from the strike, with damage reported in five districts of the capital. One person was killed and at least four others were injured as a result of the attack.
