Today is a day of mourning in Kyiv

Today, June 18, a day of mourning has been declared in Kyiv. It will be held in memory of the victims of the massive enemy attack on the capital, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

In Kyiv, state flags will be at half-mast on all municipal buildings in the capital. The Kyiv City State Administration also recommends doing the same on private and state-owned buildings to honor the victims of the Russian missile attack.

“June 18 has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv. In memory of the victims of the enemy’s massive attack on the capital,” said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The city has also banned all entertainment events.

The enemy used attack UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles:

Solomensky district:

  • an enemy UAV hit a dormitory (4-5 floors), no fire;
  • a missile hit a 9-storey residential building. The rescue operation and rubble removal are underway;
  • damage to a 5-storey residential building with the destruction of the roof and ceiling;
  • damage to a boarding school;
  • damage to a service station;
  • fall of enemy air targets and fragments of downed targets in the area of non-residential buildings in several locations. Rescuers have been deployed at the scene, and fire localization/elimination is underway.

Sviatoshynskyi district:

  • destruction of an elevator shaft and an adjacent apartment as a result of an enemy UAV hitting a 12-storey residential building;
  • damage and fire in a non-residential area.

Darnytskyi district:

  • damage to a lyceum and a kindergarten;
  • damage on the 10-17 floors of a 20-storey residential building;
  • smashed windows in apartment buildings in several locations;
  • damage to buildings and a Ukrzaliznytsia train;
  • damage with fire in several locations.

Dniprovskyi district:

  • damage to the wall of a residential building as a result of a fragment of a downed enemy air target getting stuck.
  • falling debris and damage at several locations in different parts of the district. The contact network of Ukrzaliznytsia was also damaged.

Podilskyi district:

  • debris from downed air targets fell in several locations, with no significant damage.

Obolon district:

  • a private car was damaged.

Shevchenkivskyi district:

  • damage to windows of buildings and cars in several locations. Fires broke out at the scene and were extinguished by the SES.

Overall, the attack resulted in numerous damages to cars, craters and damage to building structures. In total, at more than 30 locations.

Rescuers, police, other law enforcement agencies, city and district utilities are involved in the response and repair of the damage. Rescuers have localized and extinguished the fires over an area of more than 10 thousand square meters.

Work is currently underway to clear the rubble, repair damaged roofs and remove construction debris.

Humanitarian headquarters have been set up in Solomensky, Darnytskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts to help the population. Utilities and equipment from the districts that did not suffer significant damage are involved in the relief efforts.
