A new pedestrian bridge has been opened in Kyiv. It connects Obolonska embankment with Obolonsky Island. A video from the new bridge was posted by the mayor Vitali Klitschko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
This bridge connects Obolonsky Island and Natalka Park near Obolonska Embankment. The mayor walked along the new bridge and invited Kyiv residents and guests to walk along.
Klitschko informed that the construction of the facility began in 2021, was suspended at the beginning of the full-scale war and resumed last spring. At the same time, the construction of the recreational area began. It was built at the expense of patrons, both foreign and Ukrainian.
“The structures for the bridge were manufactured at Azovstal. They were brought to Kyiv just a few weeks before the start of the full-scale war. For now, we will not switch on the lighting of the main structure, only the economical LED lighting of the bridge railing,”
– Klitschko said.

According to him, the new bridge is 3.5 metres wide and 176 metres long. It is comfortable for people with limited mobility and does not interfere with the passage of small vessels to Obolon Bay, the mayor said.
He also said that the recreational area on Obolonsky Island was arranged with the preservation of flora and fauna. Benches, playgrounds and toilets were installed. Pedestrian and cycling routes were created.
New trees and bushes were also planted. Visitors will be pleased with decorative apple trees, pink acacia, lilacs and lawns that bloom all summer long.
