Kyiv detains FSB agent who arranged caches with explosives for terrorist attacks in Dnipro region

At the Central Railway Station in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained an agent of the Russian special services who planned to flee abroad after preparing terrorist attacks in Ukraine.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the investigation, the detainee was a 63-year-old former police officer from Donetsk who settled in the Dnipro region after 2014. After the full-scale invasion, he began to cooperate with the Russian Federal Security Service.
On the instructions of his supervisors, the man prepared four caches with weapons and explosives, including combat grenades, detonators and components for improvised explosive devices. The caches were set up in Pavlohrad and Shakhtarsk, mostly near abandoned buildings and cemeteries.
In addition to explosives, the agent left phones and SIM cards disguised in juice boxes in the caches for further agent communication. The coordinates of the caches were to be transferred to the perpetrators of future terrorist attacks.
SBU officers documented all stages of the subversive activity. The man was detained while trying to escape to the European Union and then travel to Russia. A Russian passport issued in 2024 was seized from him.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under
- ч. 2 of Art. 111 of the CCU – high treason under martial law;
- ч. 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code – illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.
He is currently in custody. The sanctions of the incriminated articles provide for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
