A Picasso painting that was considered missing is found in Madrid

The Spanish National Police has found Pablo Picasso’s painting “Still Life with a Guitar” in Madrid, which had been missing since early October.

This was reported by the newspaper El Pais, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to law enforcement officials, the work probably never left the capital and was not loaded into the transport that was supposed to deliver it to Granada.

The 1919 painting was made in gouache and insured for about €600 thousand. It was going to be exhibited at the vernissage “Still Life. Eternity of the Caja Granada Inertia Foundation, which began last week in Granada. It was packed with 56 other works and prepared for shipment on September 25.

The CajaGranada Foundation reported that on October 3, the transport company delivered the shipment under video surveillance, but due to the lack of full package numbering, staff were unable to conduct a detailed inspection prior to unpacking. The acceptance documents were signed with the condition of further reconciliation.

The check on October 6 revealed that one of the paintings was missing, after which the organization filed a police report. The disappearance of the artwork was entered into the Interpol international database of stolen and missing works of art.
