Ukraine plans to increase gas imports due to the loss of part of its own production as a result of damage. This was stated by First Deputy Energy Minister Artem Nekrasov during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to him, until the recent massive attack by the Russian side on the oil and gas sector, preparations for the heating season were going according to the approved schedule.
“However, we realize that the shelling creates additional difficulties for us. We planned to accumulate at least 13.2 billion cubic meters of gas in storage by the start of the heating season. Part of it will be imported,” the Deputy Minister said.
Taking into account domestic production, 4.6 billion cubic meters of gas were planned to be imported.
He added that the Ukrainian side has already informed international partners within the G7 Coordination Group about the consequences of the attack.
“We have informed our partners of our priority needs for the rapid restoration of the damaged facilities. First of all, we are talking about the purchase of physical and air defense systems, the need to purchase additional volumes of gas and power equipment for restoration and repairs,” the Deputy Minister said.
He added that he could not provide more detailed information on this for security reasons.
