A multi-grain oilseed complex OLVIA is being opened in Mykolaiv region, which will become one of the largest agricultural facilities in the region. The project is being implemented in two stages, and after the completion of the second stage, the company’s capacity will double,Latifundist.com reports , "Komersant Ukrainian".

The first stage: from elevator reconstruction to own power generation

At the first stage, the company reconstructed an 84,700 m³ elevator and equipped it with modern grain drying and cleaning systems. The company also launched a press and extraction shop, meal and husk warehouses, a biomass boiler house, oil tanks, and its own power substation.

According to the company, the project is designed to create a full oil production cycle, from primary seed processing to storage and sale of finished products.

The second stage: doubling production and own generation

After the launch of the second stage, OLVIA plans to double its production volumes. Key investments include

  • construction of an additional press and preparation shop;
  • launch of the second extraction shop;
  • expansion of oil storage tanks;
  • setting up own power generation;
  • launch of a refining, deodorization and freezing shop;
  • a bottling line and finished product warehouses.

The company adds that in the future, OLVIA will develop the deep processing of corn, which will include the production of starch for domestic and foreign markets.

Investment activity in the agricultural sector is growing

The opening of the OLVIA complex comes amid increased investment in the processing industry across Ukraine.

  • In the Lviv region, in Stryi district, a poultry complex with a capacity of 330,000 broiler chickens per year is being prepared to launch.
  • In the Ternopil region, Lecorne, a company that moved from Kharkiv, is building a plant to produce wafer semi-finished products.
  • In the Cherkasy region, the construction of the AMILL-CORN plant, which will specialize in corn processing, is nearing completion.
  • In Vinnytsia region, the first stage of a vegetable storage facility with a capacity of over 1.2 thousand tons has recently been completed.

Golden Agro is also investing in the modernization of its oil pressing plant in Izmail, which will be able to process sunflower and produce calibrated kernels.

Economic significance

Analysts note that the emergence of powerful agro-processing companies in southern Ukraine contributes to an increase in added value in the agricultural sector and a reduction in raw material exports.

“The development of complexes of this scale means not only new jobs, but also strengthening the country’s energy and food security,” says agroeconomist Oleksandr Kovalenko.

What are the prospects

OLVIA plans to complete the second phase of the project over the next two years. After commissioning, the company will become one of the largest oilseed producers in Ukraine, capable of processing products not only for the domestic market but also for export.
