The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the decree of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the expulsion of Ukrainians to be null and void and considers this act to be a continuation of the policy of genocide against the Ukrainian people.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tykhyi, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“We believe that this is a worthless act. It is another step in Russia’s campaign of discrimination, persecution and forced displacement of Ukrainian citizens from their homeland, or forcing them to acquire the status of a foreigner,” the diplomat said.

He added that the Russian authorities are demonstrating that their real goal is not peace, but the further destruction of Ukrainian statehood and the persecution of Ukrainian citizens. In addition, this decree contradicts the Kremlin’s statements about its readiness for a peaceful settlement and directly undermines any peace initiatives, including the efforts of the United States.

The spokesperson emphasized that “these systematic deportations and persecutions are part of Russia’s policy of genocide against the Ukrainian people.”

“We know that the Kremlin has historically used mass deportations as a means of destroying the national identity of various peoples, including Ukrainians. This policy was used especially intensively against Ukrainians, and all the crimes of the Soviet regime during the twentieth century demonstrated this approach. Today, Russia deliberately continues these repressive practices and violates its international obligations,” the diplomat emphasized.

In this context, the spokesperson said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on international institutions and international partners to strongly condemn this latest act of violation of international law by Russia, to increase sanctions pressure, including personal sanctions against those responsible for the activities specified in the decree.

We remind that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s demand for Ukrainian citizens staying in Russia to legalize or leave by September 10 also applies to residents of the temporarily occupied territories.
