Poland has recorded a record number of marriages between Poles and Ukrainians. This was reported on the Facebook page of Polish Radio for Ukraine (Polskie Radio dla Ukrainy), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“According to the Main Department of Statistics, in 2024, 5359 marriages involving Ukrainian citizens were registered, of which 2556 were between Ukrainians and Poles. For comparison: in 2023, there were 2213 such marriages, and in 2015 – only 715,” the report says.

The vast majority of new marriages are between Polish men and Ukrainian women – 2021 such cases were registered. In contrast, only 535 Polish women married Ukrainians.

According to the researchers, this trend of naturalness of the process can be explained by the fact that a long stay abroad encourages people to legalize relationships and stabilize their lives.

Earlier, Opendatabot reported that in the first half of this year, Ukrainian courts issued more than 38.7 thousand divorces, which is three times higher than the figure in registry offices (12.7 thousand).

According to the data, almost 45% of all divorces in Ukraine are in five regions: Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv regions and the city of Kyiv.

However, in the west of the country, the number of divorces is traditionally low. In particular, in Zakarpattia region, 777 cases were considered, and in Volyn region – 829 (among the lowest figures in Ukraine, excluding the territories affected by hostilities).

In the same period, 12,691 marriages were dissolved in registry offices, which is three times less than in courts. Kyiv ranks first with 1,780 divorces, followed by Dnipropetrovska oblast with 1,252, and Kharkivska oblast with 889. If we do not take into account the frontline and partially occupied regions, the lowest number of divorces in registry offices was recorded in Zakarpattia (171), Chernivtsi (239), and Ternopil (247) regions.

In July, the Ministry of Justice reported that in the first half of 2025, about 69,000 marriages were registered in Ukraine through state civil registry offices.
