Monument to Peter the Great dismantled in Poltava

A monument to Peter the Great was dismantled in Poltava as part of a decolonization campaign.
This was reported by the city’s acting mayor Kateryna Yamshchykova, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“This is not an act of vandalism, but a conscious and responsible action of the community, which is getting rid of Russian imperial markers,” she emphasized.
The Rada TV channel reported that the monument was demolished without the use of public funds, but only by volunteers.
Yamshchykova noted that the monument was demolished in accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
