An earthquake struck the Poltava region: what is known

An earthquake was recorded in the Poltava region on the evening of March 28. The tremors, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, occurred in the Poltava district.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Main Center for Special Control.
According to experts, the seismic event was recorded at 7:50:07 p.m. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Machukhivska territorial community at a depth of 8 kilometers.
According to the classification, such an earthquake is considered barely perceptible. The tremors can be felt only by a few people who are at rest indoors, especially on the upper floors of buildings.

The Poltava region periodically experiences minor earthquakes. These are usually associated with the region’s geological features and movements within the Dnipro-Donets Basin.
Previously, seismologists noted that such phenomena are natural for this area and do not indicate a risk of large-scale natural disasters.
