A scuffle between Honcharenko and Hetmantsev takes place in the Rada: video

During the July 16 plenary session in the Verkhovna Rada, the European Solidarity faction blocked the parliamentary rostrum. A scuffle broke out between its MP Oleksiy Honcharenko and the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev. The video of the clash was published by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“The rostrum is being blocked in the Rada because of a violation of the rules of procedure. The fact is that the hall rejected the “soybean amendment”, but they tried to manipulate the rules of procedure and pass it anyway,” Zheleznyak wrote.

The conflict was caused by amendments to the draft law No. 13157 on industrial pollution control. In particular, it was an attempt to include a provision on the introduction of duties on imports of soybeans and rapeseed.

Representatives of the EU and some MPs from other factions opposed this initiative, considering it a threat to the agricultural business. In their opinion, the changes could hit small and medium-sized agricultural producers.

“Right now, they are trying to throw us all away. They have come up with a scheme to deceive the Parliament and farmers. Just now, the amendment on soybeans and rapeseed was not fully considered. But the amendment remained partially. And this is a deception,” Goncharenko said.

This conflict was followed by another scuffle, also involving Honcharenko, who demanded that the rostrum be blocked again.

“Get out of here, this is not your tribune!” he shouted at Hetmantsev.

Despite the tension in the hall, the Rada continued to consider the current draft laws.

After completing this block, the MPs will move on to personnel issues.

In particular, a vote on the resignation of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is scheduled for today . It is expected that a new government will be announced immediately afterwards.
