Presidential elections are held in Republika Srpska

On Sunday, November 23, voters in Republika Srpska are electing a new president in early elections called after pro-Russian leader Milorad Dodik was ousted and banned from politics for six years.
This was reported by Reuters, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
In Banja Luka, the largest city in the region, many voters expressed disappointment with the future.
There are two favorites among the six candidates for the post: Sinisa Karan, a Dodik ally and representative of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), and Branko Blanusa, a candidate from the opposition Serbian Democratic Party.
The presidential mandate will last less than a year, as general elections are scheduled for October 2026.
Karan, the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, campaigned under the slogan that a vote for him is a “vote for President Dodik.” Numerous posters with photographs of both politicians were displayed in the region.
Blanusa, a university professor and a new face in politics, has the support of most Serbian opposition parties.
He promises to fight corruption and the “seizure of state resources” in Republika Srpska.
More than 1.2 million citizens are eligible to vote. Preliminary results are expected after the polls close at 18:00 GMT.
