Some users of electronic military records have a new entry in the Reserve application: “VOS-999. Requires basic military training”. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs

What does the VOS-999 mark mean?

As explained in the department, VOS-999 is a military specialty that is assigned to citizens who are registered for military service but

  • did not perform military service,
  • did not take part in training.

This rule is enshrined in the Order of the Ministry of Defense No. 317 and is based on the provisions of Article 39 of the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service.”

Through this system, the state can determine the number of persons liable for military service who, in the event of mobilization, must undergo a basic course of general military training.

Should something be done?

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the presence of the mark does not imply fines, sanctions or any restrictions. This is just an informational mark for accounting purposes.

“It does not require any additional actions from users,” the ministry clarified.

Thus, the mark VOS-999 in the “Reserve” only indicates that a person has no previous military experience and will have to undergo basic training in case of mobilization.
