The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media has restricted access to Viber in Russia.

This was reported by Roskomnadzor, according to Kommersant Ukrainian .

According to representatives of the federal agency, access to the messenger was restricted because the “organizers of the dissemination of information” on the network violated the requirements of local legislation.

These requirements are allegedly necessary to prevent the use of Viber “for terrorist and extremist purposes,” recruitment of citizens, drug trafficking, and the posting of “illegal information.”
