Sweden names conditions for transferring Gripen fighters to Ukraine: details

Sweden will provide Ukraine with Gripen fighter jets only if a peace agreement with Russia is reached. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote about this on his page on the social network X following a meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
He assured that Stockholm is ready to contribute to “preserving peace in Ukraine” by providing Gripen fighter jets, resources needed to clear the Black Sea of mines, and training for Ukrainian army officers.
However, he said, a prerequisite for the supply is clear rules of engagement for the multinational force and official approval from the Swedish parliament.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that after the ceasefire in Ukraine, “thousands of French soldiers” could be sent there to maintain peace. At the same time, the politician noted that he was not talking about forces “that are committed to participate in hostilities.” What is meant are “the forces that will be provided after the signing of the peace agreement,” the French president clarified.
Assistance to Ukraine
As a reminder, Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Vever said that his country is ready to contribute to ensuring peace in Ukraine after the war.
According to him, the relevant agreements were discussed during a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” in Paris.
Belgium’s contribution will be focused, in particular, on providing air and naval forces, as well as training.
Germany has also expressed its readiness to contribute to ensuring a possible ceasefire in Ukraine, but without committing to sending its military to Ukrainian territory.
It should be noted that at the talks in Paris, representatives of Ukraine and the United States within the “coalition of the willing” agreed on concrete steps to implement and monitor the ceasefire, but the final progress of these agreements depends on the position of Russia, which has not yet confirmed its readiness to implement them.
