US President Donald Trump plans to meet with congressional leaders from the Republican and Democratic parties on Monday, September 29, amid a possible government shutdown. This was reported by the Associated Press agency, citing a source in the White House, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, as well as House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was confirmed by a White House official,” the article says.

on September 19, the US Senate rejected a bill to fund federal agencies until November 21. During the vote, 44 senators voted in favor of the document, while 48 voted against it.

If the House and Senate fail to reach an agreement on this issue, the government will shut down on October 1, when the new fiscal year begins. In the event of a shutdown, border, postal and social services will continue to operate, but civil servants, including the military, will remain unpaid.
