The administration of US President Donald Trump has laid off dozens of employees of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of federal cuts related to the ongoing government shutdown. This was reported by The New York Times, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the newspaper, “disease detectives,” leading scientists and employees of the CDC’s Washington office received notices of dismissal. This happened on Friday evening after the statement of the Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget Russell Vaught about the beginning of large-scale layoffs in federal agencies.
