US to consider possibility of Trump meeting with Kim Jong-un

The White House is considering a meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during the Republican’s visit to Asia in November.
This was reported by CNN, citing sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
U.S. officials have not yet conducted the serious logistical planning necessary to organize such a visit, pointing out that there has been no contact between Washington and Pyongyang, which Trump maintained during his first term. The US president’s initial request to the North Korean leader earlier this year went unanswered because the North Koreans did not accept the letter, sources told CNN.
Instead, during the upcoming trip, the presidential administration focused on organizing a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping amid escalating trade tensions between the United States and China, the TV channel said.
According to the sources, Trump’s interest in meeting with Kim Jong-un initially arose after he received South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the White House in August. During their meeting, Lee formally invited Trump to attend a meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation trade ministers in South Korea and suggested that the event could provide the politician with an excellent opportunity to meet with Kim.
Trump was open to the idea and told Lee that he would consider it, CNN emphasized.
