A unique digitalized waste sorting facility for Ukraine was launched on 7 October in the parking lot of the Epicenter shopping and entertainment center in Chabany, Kyiv region.
“The Sorting Capsule is Ukraine’s first network of innovative sorting stations converted from a shipping container. The network is being developed by the organization “Ukraine without Waste ” in partnership with businesses. The project aims to make waste sorting as convenient, accessible, and understandable as possible for residents of Ukrainian cities.
The launch of the Sorting Capsule near the Epicenter shopping mall in Chabany is our contribution to the development of environmental infrastructure for the community. We consistently implement the principles of sustainable development – from a solar power plant to a panel with the UN Global Goals – and strive to make a sustainable lifestyle accessible to everyone,” said Kateryna Vesna, Head of the Epicenter K shopping mall development department.

“The Sorting Capsule, which opened in the parking lot of the Epicenter shopping mall, already offers more than 20 types of packaging for recycling, and illiquid plastics and textile waste for safe disposal. At the same time, the space operates in a self-service mode, without eco-consultants.

We don’t just collect waste for recycling – we bring people together to form a new culture of waste sorting in society. “The Sorting Capsule is a step towards a convenient and accessible European-style environmental infrastructure in Ukrainian cities,” added Yevheniia Aratovska, founder of the Zero Waste Ukraine project.
It should be noted that you can use the Sorting Capsules by becoming a resident of NO WASTE CLUB, a community of people who will form a new waste culture and promote sustainable changes in Ukrainian society. After registering, community members receive electronic personal access to the Sorting Capsules network via a smartphone app, special reduced prices for the Sorting service, and other benefits.

Such projects are an example of real environmental transformation, where the state, business, and public initiatives work together. We strive to make modern waste management infrastructure accessible to every Ukrainian. This is not only about comfort, but also about consciousness – the formation of a sorting culture, which is the foundation of a circular economy that should become the norm for the whole country,” saidYehor Perelyhin, .
The project was implemented with the financial support of the Ukrainian Social Venture Fund under the Collaborate for Impact program, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with Impact Europe as part of the Impact Business Acceleration Program initiated by Impact Force, implemented in partnership with SILab Ukraine and supported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Office for Entrepreneurship and Export Development, and the national project Diia.Business.
