Ukraine’s second corvette launched in Turkey

The second Ukrainian Ada-class corvette Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky (F-212) was launched at the shipyard of the Turkish company Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş. (STM). This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Clash Report.

Among those present at the ceremony were Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, MP, Hero of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and others.

The vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art radio equipment, artillery and missile weapons, including Harpoon anti-ship missiles. It also has a hangar for basing a helicopter.

The ship is 100 metres long, 14.40 metres wide, has a draft of 3.90 metres, a gross displacement of 2,340 tonnes and a top speed of 30 knots.

The ship’s construction began on 18 August 2023, but Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky will be completed afloat for some time.

The first corvette, named after Ivan Mazepa, is ready and undergoing trials in the Black Sea. The ship will become the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy.

The Ukrainian Ada-class corvettes are armed with a 76 mm Super Rapid naval gun manufactured by the Italian company OTO Melara.
