Strike on Kyiv: death toll rises to 21

The death toll from Russia’s massive strike on Kyiv on the night of August 28 has risen to 21. This was reported by the State Emergency Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“As of 20:40, rescuers recovered another body. As a result of the nighttime Russian attack on the capital, 21 people were killed, including four children,” the rescuers said in a statement.

The work at the site continues – rescuers still hope to find survivors.

The State Emergency Service reported that the number of victims in the capital exceeded fifty.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, the consequences of the Russian attack were recorded at more than 20 locations in Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, and Desnianskyi districts. There is significant damage to residential buildings in Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts. In particular, in the latter, a direct hit destroyed part of a five-story building.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of August 28, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with nearly 600 attack UAVs and 31 missiles. The military recorded missiles and attack UAVs hitting 13 locations, and downed aircraft falling (wreckage) at 26 locations.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – strike UAVs, missiles, CABs, and MLRS.
