After a Russian night attack in Kharkiv, one of the city’s largest markets was on fire. As a result of the “arrivals” of strike drones, about 90 commercial facilities were damaged by fire, and another 20 burned to the ground. This was reported by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov in his telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The Russian army shelled the city’s largest market, where many people come to shop. There is not a single military object or any potential military targets nearby! Thanks to the prompt actions of the State Emergency Service units, a large-scale fire that covered an area of 500 square meters was extinguished,” Terekhov said.
The Russian attack lasted more than two hours in a row. Four people were injured: men aged 44, 59 and 71 and a 52-year-old woman.
Barabashovo market is the largest industrial and consumer goods market in Ukraine, covering an area of more than 75 hectares, is the largest in Eastern Europe and ranks 14th in the ranking of the world’s largest markets.
The territory of the shopping center is divided into 8 trading floors by product range and location. The total number of retail and storage spaces is about 18,000.
