Ukraine can build anti-ballistic missiles, but there is a caveat

11 March 04:19

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has enough technology and specialists to build missiles capable of shooting down Russian ballistic targets, but this requires licenses from the US. The head of state said this during a conversation with journalists, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to Zelensky, he has repeatedly raised this issue with the American side — both with the previous US administration and the current one — and has also communicated with manufacturers of such missiles and partners in NATO.

“Only one thing is needed for this — licenses from the United States of America. I discussed this issue with the former administration, I discussed these issues with the manufacturers of these missiles, I personally discussed this issue with partners so that they would help me with NATO leadership. I also spoke with the current US administration. So far, we have not received a license,” the president said.

He added that the Ukrainian defense industry, which is actively developing during the war, together with existing technologies and engineers, allows for the rapid establishment of production of large quantities of such missiles.

According to Zelensky, this would not only meet Ukraine’s needs but also strengthen the security of the whole of Europe.
