In early 2026, a new plant for the production of edible and technical salt by the private enterprise Kuyalnytskyi will start operating in Odesa region. This was reported by the Ukrinform news agency, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What is known about the construction
The enterprise is being built by Black Sea Salt Plant LLC, which has raised USD 2.8 million for the project under the state program of cheap loans “5-7-9”.
Construction started in 2024 and is in its final stages. Production is expected to reach its planned capacity in January 2026.
The plant should cover more than 50% of the domestic demand of the Ukrainian salt market
According to preliminary estimates, the company will produce about 15 thousand tons of salt per month. The team uses innovative technologies developed jointly with specialists from the state-owned enterprise Artemsil and the Turkish company SALT PLUS. This is the first industrial salt production complex in Ukraine to be built from scratch after the outbreak of a full-scale war.
Vitaliy Rudenko, co-founder of the company, said that the new plant should cover more than 50% of the domestic demand of the Ukrainian salt market. This is an important indicator given the country’s loss of key capacities after the occupation of the Artemivske field in Donetsk region, which was considered the largest in Eurasia, in 2022.
What is known about the Ukrainian salt industry
The Ukrainian salt industry is gradually recovering. In particular, in November 2025, after a year and a half break, rock salt production resumed at the Tereblya deposit in Zakarpattia. Its reserves are estimated at 15.5 million tons, and it is currently one of the few active rock salt production sites in Ukraine.
