The first Ukrainian long-range missiles, the production of which was financed by Germany, will enter service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the end of July.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to ZDF heute.

Major General Christian Freuding said the program was initiated in late May.

Recently, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with domestic arms manufacturers, and Berlin fully assumed the financing.

The total number of such missiles is expected to reach “triple digits” in the coming months.

“We need weapons systems that reach far into the Russian region, which can attack warehouses, command and control facilities, airfields and aircraft,” Freuding emphasized.

The general confirmed that the situation at the front remains tense.

Russian troops have been holding the tactical initiative in certain areas for several weeks in a row, and the air situation for Ukraine has deteriorated, especially in the face of massive attacks on major cities.

According to Freuding, it is long-range weapons that will allow the Ukrainian army to seize the initiative, hitting enemy critical infrastructure tens or hundreds of kilometers in the rear.

According to him, Germany is ready to continue supporting Kyiv with such weapons.

He also noted that Ukraine continues to develop local production of spare parts for Western artillery systems, as well as improving drones.

Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that his country would provide a significant part of the funds to finance Starlink in Ukraine. The statement noted that Germany has already committed to financing part of the satellite communications since April.
