Ukraine has tightened sanctions against Russia: who is affected by the new restrictions?

Ukraine has imposed sanctions on companies that supply components and manufacture missiles and drones for Russia, as well as on the Russian financial sector. This was reported on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Telegram channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

He noted that on the night of Saturday, February 7, Russia launched another massive strike on Ukraine, using more than 400 drones and nearly 40 missiles of various types.

“The production of these weapons would be impossible without foreign critical components, which the Russians continue to obtain in circumvention of sanctions. And it is against such companies — suppliers of components and manufacturers of missiles and drones — that we are imposing new sanctions. I have signed the relevant decisions,” the president said.

According to him, the second decree imposes sanctions on the Russian financial sector: the list includes companies through which payments are made for the supply of components for the production of Russian missiles and drones.

“Sanctions have also been imposed on entities that support the Russian cryptocurrency market and mining. Some of these decisions will be included in the 20th package of European Union sanctions, which is already in its final stages,” Zelensky added.

The relevant decrees dated February 7 were also published on the president’s website. The first decree, directed against the Russian military-industrial complex, restricts the capabilities of 24 individuals and 27 legal entities in Russia. The second decree imposes sanctions against 42 individuals and 35 legal entities.
