Ukraine signs security agreement with Portugal

In Lisbon, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro signed an agreement on security cooperation. This was reported by the Office of the President, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The agreement enshrines Portugal’s commitment to support Ukraine in restoring its territorial integrity within the 1991 borders, including the territorial sea.
In addition, according to the document, the country will provide at least €126 million in military support this year. Portugal also confirms its participation in the F-16 Coalition, an international coalition of maritime security capabilities, in the large-calibre ammunition procurement programme, mine action and maritime security efforts.
Separate sections of the agreement are devoted to bilateral cooperation in the defence industry, intelligence, the fight against organised crime and propaganda, and countering chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks.
Ukraine and Portugal will coordinate and strengthen joint efforts to support Kyiv on its path to NATO membership.
The political cooperation clause of the agreement includes support for the Ukrainian formula for peace, bringing the aggressor to justice, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and working together to create a mechanism for compensation for losses, damage or injury caused by Russian aggression.

Portugal became the 12th country with which Ukraine signed a bilateral security agreement. Prior to this, Ukraine signed bilateral agreements with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain and Belgium.
